PhD Dr Senyefia Bosson-Amedenu

Dr. Senyefia Bosson-Amedenu is a Ghanaian applied mathematician, statistician, and lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science at Takoradi Technical University, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, with additional graduate-level training in Statistics from the University of Ghana. His research expertise spans applied mathematics, statistical modelling, stochastic processes, survival and competing risks analysis, machine learning, time series forecasting, and multivariate statistical methods, with applications in public health, environmental systems, and epidemiology.
His research focuses on quantitative modelling of complex real-world problems, including cancer epidemiology, malaria dynamics, climate-sensitive rainfall forecasting, environmental exposure risk, and predictive modelling in health systems. His work has appeared in internationally indexed journals such as BMC Cancer, BMC Infectious Diseases, BMC Public Health, Scientific African, Heliyon, and BioMed Research International.
Dr. Bosson-Amedenu has held several academic positions, including Lecturer and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Studies at Holy Child College of Education, and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, where he taught courses ranging from abstract algebra and operations research to educational statistics and supervised numerous undergraduate research projects.
Beyond research and teaching, he contributes actively to the international scientific community through research evaluation, peer review, and science-policy engagement. He currently serves as an Expert Assessor for Research Novelty Evaluation within a collaboration between the University of Sussex Metascience Unit and the UK Government’s Metascience initiative, and as an Invited Expert Contributor to the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, contributing expert assessments that inform research evaluation and science policy initiatives. He has served as an expert scholar for the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and as a scientific reviewer on the SciPinion triple-blinded expert review platform. In recognition of his scholarly achievements and contributions to scientific advancement, he has been nominated for full membership in Sigma Xi, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious scientific honor societies dedicated to promoting excellence in research.
Dr. Bosson-Amedenu is also an active peer reviewer for numerous international journals across mathematics, public health, epidemiology, environmental science, and biomedical research. His review contributions span journals including Scientific Reports, BMC Public Health, BMC Medical Research Methodology, BMC Women’s Health, Results in Engineering, Discover Oncology, Discover Public Health, International Journal of Health Geographics, Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, Population Health Metrics, Quality & Quantity, Reproductive Health, Environmental Sciences Europe, Spatial Demography, and several other peer-reviewed outlets. Through these activities, he contributes to maintaining scientific rigor and methodological quality across interdisciplinary research fields.
In addition to his academic work, he supports educational development in Ghana as a School Improvement Advisor under the Ghana Ministry of Education in collaboration with T-TEL and the Ghana Education Service, where he contributes to teacher professional development, curriculum implementation, and school improvement planning. He is proficient in R, Python, and Stata and is a member of professional bodies, including the Ghana Mathematics and Statistics Society and the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana.
Dr. Bosson-Amedenu has also contributed significantly to mathematics education and curriculum development in Ghana. He served as a co-author in the development of teaching manuals for Colleges of Education under the University of Cape Coast, covering courses in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, mathematical methodology, and pedagogy used in teacher training across Ghana. In professional service, he served as the Zonal Chair for the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) for the Western and Central Regions, where he coordinated academic and professional activities among member institutions. He also served as the Local Chair of CETAG at Holy Child College of Education, Takoradi, providing leadership in institutional academic representation and staff professional development.
